About Mary Beth

Mary Beth Raycraft on campus

A seasoned educator, I have worked as a faculty member, and academic/study abroad advisor at Boston University, Vanderbilt, Stanford, UC Berkeley, Johns Hopkins, and The College of Wooster. In addition to teaching French at the college level, I have also taught first-year writing courses. I am a published writer and translator and recently co-authored the college-level French textbook, Affaires Globales (Georgetown University Press, 2021). I continue my engagement with undergraduates as an Associate Fellow and first-year advisor at Davenport College at Yale.

As an educational consultant, I draw on my experience as a college faculty member and advisor. I channel my experience as a writer and translator to help students brainstorm, develop, and refine their writing into clear, creative, and compelling application essays. I love working one-on-one with students to help them explore and grow during the college search process. My professional roles at a diverse group of colleges gives me a depth of knowledge about admissions, academic departments, and campus/off-campus opportunities including study abroad.

I am also well-acquainted with the college admissions process from the parent perspective as our three children are students/graduates of Northwestern, Cornell, University of Colorado Boulder, Michigan State, and the University of Tokyo.

In my free time, I enjoy keeping up with the latest trends in higher education, reading French novels, and volunteering as a tutor and translator.
